Wow! Time is flying by! We passed into the sign the sign of Sagittarius (Nov 22nd), Full Moon (Nov. 23rd), have entered the Celtic Tree month of Elder (Nov. 25th), about to celebrate Hanukkah (Dec. 3 – Dec. 10th), and Mercury goes Direct on Dec. 8th.
In the Celtic Tree month of Elder is contained the conflicting forces of good and evil. The Elder Mother originally, in many parts of the world, represented healing. For example, her leaves can be made into tea or used as an insect repellant. Carpenters like her wood, and her berries can be used in baking or dying cloth a very royal purple. A twig, if asked for first, will ban evil spirits and can be used as an amulet. The Elderberry flowers gathered and dried as the moon waxes from dark to full are powerful love potions. The berries gathered on Summer Solstice will provide protection from unexpected events, including lightning strikes.
Superstition hangs around Mother Elder also. For instance, in England it is believed that you must ask before you take a branch from the tree or your project is doomed. It is also whispered that if you place your baby in a cradle made from Elder you are inviting evil spirits to enter the child. Elder is also supposed to be the tree Judas hung himself from and the material used for Christ’s cross. It is a beautiful tree, and, like life, you can pick and choose your own beliefs regarding it.
Today, I will be back at Creative Energy, the PURPLE store, located at 780 W. New Haven Ave, aka. Hwy. 192, from noon until 4:00 pm. The PURPLE peeps, Pamela, Vance, Aimee, and Alyssa have been busy little elves, and the store has taken on the charm of this holiday season. (I stopped in when I returned from California and was awestruck. Loved the new magic wands!) Readings are only $30 for 30 minutes. Stop by and visit all of us!
On Sunday, I will be selling my book, “Beyond the Fine Line,” at the Cocoa Village Art/Craft Fair. My book is also available on Amazon.com.
A reminder – tonight at 7:00 pm and Saturday at 2:00 pm Seussical will be performed by the Youth Theater at Surfside Playhouse, 301 Ramp Road, Cocoa Beach.
And a big BREAK YOUR LEG to Lori for her debut at Not Quite Right Improv tonight!
